Rampage of the Innocents - My Historical Romance Novel (now, with more sex and violence for my teenaged readers)

"You know, I hear everybody talking about the generation gap. Frankly, sometimes I don't know what they're talking about. Heck, by now I should know a little bit about it, if I'm ever going to. I have seven kids and eighteen grandkids and I don't seem to have any trouble talking to any of them. Never have had, and I don't intend to start now." - John Wayne

Norman Rogers is the driving force behind "Celebrity Disaster."

This is a blog dedicated to the arts, celebrity, the entertainment industry, you know--light, fluffy, unserious stuff--that can kill.

Mr. Rogers explains:

"I wanted to have a world-class blog, and I have that. I wanted to write about sports, and I have that, too. I wanted a place to tell the stories about my secret work as a Gentleman Bounty Hunter, and I have that now. I wanted to post pictures of nearly-naked hotties, and I have that. What I didn't have was my own venue to comment on the world of celebrity, and now I have that as well. To me, modern celebrity is a disaster, and the name was available, so we took it, and that's what you have right here. Celebrity Disaster! It doesn't make sense, but it doesn't have to."

Just Another Creepy Old Man With Too Many Pictures of Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale

It's true.

Ashley Tisdale

In my defense, Ashley Tisdale has a career that is worth noting. When all of the glitz and glamour is put into perspective, what she really has is a legacy as being one of the most gifted voice actors to arrive on the animation scene in years.

You knew I was going to get in a Phineas and Ferb post this month, didn't you?

What a brilliant actor.

Checking in With Liz Hurley

Liz Hurley

Is Liz Hurley doing anything?

Liz Hurley

Liz Hurley

Yep--she's done some voice work for a film called "The Wild Bunch:"

Actress/model Elizabeth Hurley is eyeing a return to the big screen - after vowing never to step in front of the camera again.

The British beauty shot to stardom in the Austin Powers films in the late 1990s, but turned her back on movies when she gave birth to son Damian in 2002.

The 44 year old has lent her voice to upcoming animated picture The Wild Bunch - and the role has inspired her to make another movie.

She says, "I said no (more movies). When I had my son I said no because I wanted to be in the country with him full time but now, maybe I might do another movie next year. My son wants me to very much."

Cutting Off Your Nose To Spite Your Face

Who is running this company? This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen:

"Luxo Jr.," the squeaky desk-lamp character created by John Lasseter more than two decades ago, is in the spotlight again -- this time under the glare of a transatlantic lawsuit.

The hopping swivel lamp has been a corporate mascot for Pixar Animation Studios since its founder created the character in 1986 for a short computer-animated movie that was nominated for an Academy Award. Lasseter was said to have based the character on his own Luxo lamp.

But Norwegian lamp maker Luxo isn't happy with how Pixar and its parent company, Walt Disney Co., are using its name.

Luxo filed a lawsuit yesterday in New York federal court against Pixar and Disney accusing the companies of infringing on its copyright by selling a limited-edition "Luxo Jr." lamp packaged with a Blu-ray version of the Disney-Pixar "Up." The complaint also cites a new attraction at Walt Disney World that is a six-foot animatronic version of the lamp.

Oslo-based Luxo said in the complaint that the Luxo name hadn't been used on Pixar and Disney products until now and that sale of the Pixar lamps would "cause devastating damage to Luxo and dilute the goodwill which Luxo has built up." The company, in business since 1939, says more than 25 million of the lamps have been sold.

Luxo is getting free advertising, at the very least, as the introduction to some of the most popular films in history. It's like being handed a free one hour ad that everyone wants to watch during the Super Bowl that isn't a lingerie bowl. Someone should have locked up a licensing agreement years ago--linking the company with the Pixar logo. It would have been a great piece of marketing.

Sometimes, you can go too far protecting what you think is yours. A little goodwill between two companies, and everyone can go home with some good numbers in their column. Introduce some lawyers to a moneymaking opportunity, and it all ends in tears.

When Is Someone Going to Realize that Elmo Has No Credibility?

Mr. Elmo and Mr. Grover--there are some gentleman from Bellevue here to see you

This is all well and good, but, really--can you think of a more divisive and partisan figure?

Federal health officials are turning to a high-pitched but authoritative voice with the younger set in the effort to slow the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.

Sesame Street's Elmo appears in a new public service campaign. The Departments of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security and Education worked with Sesame Workshop on the project.

The announcements feature Elmo and his friend Gordon emphasizing hygiene rules and health tips aimed at preventing the disease. Elmo reminds children to sneeze into their arms and to avoid touching their faces. Federal health officials hope young children will be exposed to the Sesame Street message and not swine flu germs. The ads can be seen at www.flu.gov. (One of them can be seen above.)

The announcements will also be distributed to TV stations nationwide.

A White House news release quotes Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as saying, "Younger children and their parents are some of the people most at risk from the new H1N1 flu virus and with schools starting back up again and the weather starting to get colder, we need to do everything we can to get these important messages about how to prevent the spread of the flu out there."

I'm all for getting the word out, but let's get reals, okay? Elmo's association with Rosie O'Donnell is burned into the consciousness of a confused and frightened nation. He's left with no credibility. And, with that aluminum pie plate on his head, where does Grover go from here?

Do you know who has cred with the kids? Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb is the best animated show on television, bar none.
